Gao’antun Electric Vehicle Charging and Changing Station has completed internal check and acceptance on Dec. 28. The station can be put into operation when all equipments have been debugged jointly.

The station occupies an area of 9,800 square meters. Electric vehicles will be charged by power generated from waste incineration (and biogas) power plants and solar power plants, of which the photovoltaic power generation system will generate a power capacity of 267,200 kwh annually on average. The station’s battery holders combine the functions of charging and energy storage. During night the station charges with valley time electricity to adjust unbalanced power consumption and realize cascade utilization of batteries. Under blackout the energy storage system can satisfy normal working needs of 8 hours for charging and changing of batteries of 200 large sanitation trucks, 100 2-ton electric sanitation trucks, and 100 passenger vehicles.

In the station there are 4 assembly lines which can serve 8 electric vehicles at the same time. It takes 6 minutes to change batteries and 10 minutes for the whole process for a 16-ton sanitation truck. For other vehicles, it takes only 3 minutes to change batteries and 6 minutes for the whole process. Data demonstrate that Gan’antun Station can charge 1,104 batteries at the same time each day. The charger’s total capacity is 10,080 kilowatts. The distribution post can distribute 24 sets of batteries per hour. The battery-changing and distribution speed is advanced worldwide.

Since 2010, Beijing has been accelerating the process of building a “network of charging and changing of batteries”. So far, 9 charging and changing stations and 212 charging piles have been built, which can meet the needs of 699 wholly electricity-powered buses, sanitation trucks, and passenger cars. With the launching of the construction of the junction line of charging and changing stations from Yanqing to Daxing, a green channel linking north and south Beijing will be built for electric passenger vehicles.
